At Vedi Clinic Men's Clinic, we recommend treating chronic non-bacterial prostatitis with shockwave therapy, which is applied directly to the perineal area. The high efficacy of this therapy, its non-invasiveness and the quickly perceptible and noticeable effect mean that more and more men are opting for this alternative to drug treatment.
Treatment of prostatitis at the VEDI CLINIC is carried out by a urologist.
The first element of treatment is comprehensive pre-diagnosiswhich makes it possible to identify the cause of the problem and to qualify the patient for possible treatment methods.
In most cases, treatment with appropriately selected antibiotics is sufficient to cure prostatitis.
Unfortunately, in some men, the complaints associated with this condition persist even after the potential disease-causing pathogens have been eliminated.
A therapeutic option for this group of men is ESWT therapy (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy). During the treatment session, the practitioner uses special equipment that generates acoustic shock waves at a specially selected frequency and power.
Therapeutic waves are applied directly through the patient's skin in the perineal area. As a result of the action of the waves, the blood supply to the prostate gland is improved, thus reducing the discomfort associated with the disease.
The full therapy closes in a minimum of 4 weekly therapy sessions (each session lasts about 20 minutes).

Prostatitis is the most common disease of the prostate gland with a bacterial or viral infection. It can take an acute or chronic form and most commonly affects men between the ages of 18 and 50. In order to confirm this disease, it is necessary for the patient to perform the comprehensive diagnostics offered by VEDI CLINIC. Depending on its results, the patient is then presented with an individualised treatment plan, which may be based on pharmacotherapy or, if necessary, ESWT therapy.
The symptoms of prostatitis depend on its form. In a patient with acute prostatitis, there is usually present:
Chronic prostatitis is characterised by less intense but persistent complaints over time. Typical symptoms of chronic prostatitis include:
In contrast to patients with acute prostatitis, in chronic prostatitis the body temperature is usually normal.
The most common cause of prostatitis is a bacterial or viral infection, but some varieties of this disease do not have a precise aetiology. As both acute and chronic prostatitis can present in several different ways, the treatment of this condition is selected on the basis of a specific diagnostic algorithm. This algorithm takes into account the presence and duration of pain, as well as the presence of bacterial cultures and white blood cells in the urine.
The qualification for treatment of prostatitis with shock wave therapy (ESWT) takes place during a specialist consultation with an urologist, who carries out a medical history and a physical examination. If necessary, the doctor orders an in-depth diagnosis, e.g. laboratory tests of the PSA level or the performance of the so-called Stamey test (Meares Stamey 4 glass test).
This is the last test to identify an infection 'hidden' in the deeper regions of the urinary tract that may not have been detected by a standard urine culture. The 4-Glass test is the test recommended for the diagnosis of prostatitis by the Polish and European Urological Associations.
