Impotence is a problem with erection or with reduced libido. This is a difficult and sensitive subject for many men. Accurate and multifaceted diagnosis of potency problems is key to successful treatment. This problem can occur in men of any age, but is more likely to affect the elderly, those with health problems or those with so-called 'medical conditions' or those who struggle with andropause - reduced secretion of male sex hormones, associated with age. This is a natural process and is associated with various physical (organic impotence) and psychological (psychogenic impotence) symptoms.
At Vedi Clinic Men's Clinic, one of the methods used to treat impotence is the shock wave therapy, so-called LSWT ( RENOVA and STORZ method), which involves stimulating the formation of new blood vessels at the microvascular level.
The aim of LSWT therapy is a full restoration of men's sexual performance, i.e. the ability to obtain and maintain an erection that allows for satisfactory sexual intercourse.
A full cycle of LSWT therapy consists of a minimum of four 20-minute therapy sessions, during which the penis is exposed to Low Intensity Sound Waves (LISW). The waves induce a process of creating new blood vessels in the penis, resulting in improved blood supply to the penis and thus improved erection quality. Therapeutic waves of appropriately selected power and frequency are produced by a special linear transducer, which allows the energy of the sound wave to be evenly distributed over the entire length of the penile corpora cavernosa.
Through the use of technology that allows for an even distribution of energy, it is possible to treat impotence without the need for repeated repositioning of the machine head - a problem that older generation LSWT devices are burdened with. The waves used during the treatment are completely safe for humans, so the treatment has an extremely low risk profile - to date, there has not been a single reported case of complications after RENOVA.
Renova Linear Low Intensity Shockwave for Erectile Dysfunction Treatment
The diagnostic package includes the following medical procedures:
(taking a thorough medical history)
performed during a consultation by a specialist in urology | andrology, covering the male reproductive organs, including Doppler ultrasound to assess blood flow in the vessels
analysis of blood and urine samples according to doctor's instructions
in case of referral by an urologist-and-urologist specialist
Accurate and multifaceted diagnosis of potency problems is crucial for effective treatment. The doctor takes into account many factors, including the patient's age, medical history, lifestyle, physical examination, imaging and laboratory findings and, if necessary, the result of an internal medicine/sexology consultation.
With this approach, the cause of the impotence problems can be identified and appropriate, targeted treatment can be planned.

The main symptom of impotence is the inability to achieve an erection or problems with maintaining the erection required for sexual intercourse for a long period of time. Other symptoms of impotence include, for example, lack of sexual desire, difficulty in achieving sexual excitement, premature ejaculations, pain during intercourse, or a general aversion to sexual activity. Long-term impotence makes it virtually impossible to have a satisfying sex life.
The causes of erectile dysfunction can be manifold and may be related to coexisting chronic diseases or may be the first and for a long time the only symptom of serious diseases. In such a case, we speak of organic impotence. Another type is psychogenic impotence, which is caused by psychogenic or emotional problems of the patient in question.
In the case of organic impotence, we are dealing with a situation in which erectile dysfunction is caused by the already mentioned coexisting chronic diseases. This can be caused, for example, by heart disease, arteriosclerosis, diabetes and prediabetes, but also by hypertension, sleep apnoea, prostate disease, trauma or surgery in the perineal and/or spinal region.
Emotional and psychogenic problems, such as stress, especially chronic stress, depression, anxiety, disturbances in the quality and quantity of sleep, or relationship problems, can also lead to penile rigidity disorders.
Treatment of impotence can include both psychological therapy and pharmacological interventions. In the case of psychological causes, individual or couples therapy can help to address emotional issues and increase self-confidence. Support from a partner is also important.
In the case of physical causes, medication is often used to increase blood flow to the penis, enabling an erection to be achieved and maintained. However, these medications should be used under the supervision of a doctor and require an assessment of the patient's condition.
Other forms of treatment for impotence include penile injections, vacuum devices, urethral inserts and, in extreme cases, surgical procedures such as the implantation of penile prostheses.
For many men, impotence has a very negative and shameful connotation. At VEDI CLINIC, we approach the subject of impotence with empathy and professionalism. We believe that through our holistic approach, taking into account a broad diagnosis of physical and psychological problems, we help men regain their sexual performance. An important part of maintaining healthy potency throughout life is the prevention of erectile dysfunction through a healthy diet, physical activity and reducing stress in life.
Treatment of impotence with LSWT is recognised as a leading treatment method for patients with erectile dysfunction:
Currently available clinical trial results confirm the efficacy of the RENOVA method at the 80% level. This means that in 80% of men, full improvement in sexual function occurs after therapy and it is possible to obtain and maintain an erection without the need for pharmacological agents. In the remaining 20% of men, pharmacologically induced erection becomes firmer, easier to obtain and maintain throughout intercourse. The durability of the therapeutic effect obtained from the treatment can also be confirmed on the basis of the available clinical trial results. In 2016, a systematic review and meta-analysis of previous clinical studies on LSWT treatment was published (Lu Z, et al. Low-intensity Extracorporeal Shock Wave Treatment Improves Erectile Function: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis. Eur Urol 2016). The publication definitively confirmed the effectiveness of the therapy.
